The National Youth Service Corps Foundation is searching for 75 ex- Corp members who took between N300,000 and N400,000 loans to start small businesses and refused to pay back.
The ex- corp members during their service year, used their certificates as collateral to get access to the loans. But almost four years after, they have refused to return the loans and have abandoned their certificates with the foundation.
The NYSC Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Bako Ventim, confirmed this on Monday during the opening of Skills’ Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development workshop at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja.
The director said, “We have been providing loans to corps members and our interest rate is one digit. There is no collateral except the NYSC certificate and two guarantors. We make the conditions very flexible so that the corps members can benefit from these loans.
“We have a challenge where corps members have refused to pay back the loans. We have over 100 corps members who took the loans but some of them have not paid back and we still have their NYSC certificates with us. They have not come to claim these certificates for a number of years.
“We give as much as between N300,000 and N400,000 depending on the business proposals. From the records, we have over 75 corps members that have defaulted and we are pursuing them.”

Preparing for a Study Abroad Program if You Have a Physical Disability

INSIDER SECRET: If you’re considering a study abroad program, make sure you carry a credit card with no foreign transaction fees so you can save money and stretch your budget further.
Study abroad programs have a lot to offer. You’ll have the opportunity to meet new friends, make new connections and broaden your horizons by immersing yourself in a completely different culture.
If you have a physical disability, you shouldn’t let that stand in the way of all the great things a study abroad program has to offer. With the right precautions and preparation, you’ll be able to make the most of your experience.
Here is our guide on how you can set yourself up for success if you have a physical disability and are considering a study abroad program:
Choose Your Destination Wisely
Different countries vary in the resources and accommodations available to those traveling with a disability. While the US has regulations like the Americans with Disabilities Act that require businesses to provide certain accommodations such as wheelchair ramps and elevators, other countries may not have as robust of a system in place.
To minimize the chances of complications, choose a study abroad program in a country that’s particularly known for accessibility, like these 9 very wheelchair accessible locations overseas:
  • Sydney, Australia
  • London, England
  • Vienna, Austria
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Hong Kong
  • Paris, France
  • Ireland
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Melbourne, Australia
You can also consult with your university’s study abroad program office to get an idea of how wheelchair-friendly a country will be. They can fill you in on what to expect and what you’ll need to keep in mind to be fully prepared.
A few additional considerations they may speak with you about:
  • Service animals: If you’ll be traveling with a service animal, you may need to find out if they’re allowed in public areas such as businesses and restaurants.
  • Wheelchair ramps and elevators: If you’ll be using a wheelchair, you may want to do some research on the terrain. How difficult will it be for you to get around? Are there any laws requiring businesses to have wheelchair ramps, and can you reliably count on elevators being available?
  • Medications: If you will be needing any types of medications, you’ll want to make sure your prescriptions are allowed by local law. If they are, will you have any trouble getting them refilled?

Financing Options

Scholarships and Grants

Scholarships and grants are available to those who have certain disabilities, and these funds can go a long way in covering any expenses you may have in the program.
Here are two helpful websites you can use to find scholarships:
Each scholarship has its own eligibility criteria and application process, along with details about how the funds can be used. Each scholarship has its own separate application process, and although this can be a tedious process, the payoff can be well worthwhile.

Credit Cards

If you’re considering a study abroad program, you’ll also want to carry one of the best credit cards for students.
Credit cards can go a long way in easing the financial burden of a study abroad program. Just make sure you pay off the balance in full every month and on time.
  • Make sure you carry a credit card with no foreign transaction fees. It may not seem like much at the time, but these fees add up over time and can really eat away at your budget.
  • Credit cards with high cash back earnings rates can also help soften the blow of your expenses abroad.
  • Some credit cards offer amazing perks to make your travel experience more pleasant. If you carry one of thebest travel credit cards you can expect perks like TSA PreCheck and airport lounge access that will allow you to speed through security more quickly and relax in a nice quiet area with food and drinks before your flight.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance will pay for certain non-refundable expenses in the event you are unable to make your trip. You should consider this if you’ll be investing a sizeable amount of money and are worried about possibly having to cancel.
If you do decide to purchase a separate travel insurance policy, make sure to read the fine print so you understand when coverage applies and under what circumstances.
Remember if you make your travel purchases with one of the best credit cards for students, travel insurance might already be included. Here are just a few cards that have some form of trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage:

Special Considerations Based on Disability

If you’re interested in a study abroad program, you may need to take additional precautions depending on the specific nature of your disability.

Physical

If you’ll be traveling with a wheelchair and you’re nervous about getting through the airport, here is our wheelchair travel guide. Your airport may also have procedures in place to help those with a physical disability.
Here are a few popular international airports, along with their accessibility information.
AirportAccessible RestroomsPet Relief AreasHandicap ParkingWheelchair Service
Sydney Airport (SYD)Accessible toilets are located throughout the T1 International and T2 Domestic terminals.Assistance animal relief areas are available at the T1 International terminal after security on the arrivals level.Accessible parking is available within both Domestic and International car parks. Long term parking is also available at the Blu Emu car park.Wheelchairs are available upon request. Contact your airline at time of booking, and at least 48 hours prior to your arrival to the terminals.
Heathrow Airport (LHR)Toilets are provided throughout Heathrow in both arrivals and departures, and both before and after security.Assistance dogs are allowed, and you will need to contact the Assistance team on 020 8757 2700so they can help you gain access to a suitable area outside the terminal.Disabled parking is available at the airport's Short Stay car park and Business/Long Stay car park.Purple STaxi chairs are made available free of charge from any Assistance host areas. Aisle chairs are also available for those needing assistance getting onto the aircraft and into the aircraft seat.
Vienna International Airport (VIE)The airport is extremely wheelchair-accessible.This mapshows all locations of wheelchair-accessible restrooms.Pet relief areas are available outside the terminals.Handicap-accessible parking is available in Short-term car park K3, car park C, and multi-storey car parks 3 & 4Notify your airline at least 48 hours prior to your departure for assistance. Upon arrival at the airport, report to the mobility service in the Arrivals Hall in terminal 3, or go to your airline check-in counter.
Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)Toilets have been adapted to comply with the latest standards to allow access by wheelchair-bound passengers (including motorized wheelchairs)Pet relief areas are available in terminal 2 once you clear customs.Available at short and long-term car parks at all 3 terminals.Contact your airline at least 48 hours prior to your departure. If you are departing from the airport, you can report to a designated pick-up point 2 hours prior to your flight's scheduled departure time. point
Once you land in your study abroad country, you’ll want to think about your wheelchair’s physical characteristics and how easy and comfortable it will be to get around depending on the terrain of the country. For instance, if it’s a motorized wheelchair, how long will the batteries last? Can you look into batteries that last longer, or can be more easily swapped out during the day?

Visual

If you have any type of visual impairment, making sure your luggage is easily identifiable at the airport can save you a lot of time and stress. You can wrap colored tags around your luggage or purchase luggage that’s a particularly unique, bright color. Once you land in your study abroad country, it will help you quickly locate your luggage so you can be on your way.
Safety is of the utmost importance. Traffic laws differ depending on the country, so make sure you understand the basics so that you can cross the street safely. Carry a cane if you find that it helps you get around more safely.

Deaf/Hard of Hearing

If you’re concerned you might miss important announcements at the airport because of a hearing issue, your phone can serve as an excellent tool. Set up text alerts, have your airline status bookmarked to your phone and double-check the flight status screens once you arrive at the airport. Flights get delayed, and boarding times and gate locations change all the time.
Depending on how reliant you are on a hearing aid, consider packing extra batteries as a a backup when you’re out exploring the city.

Service Animals

Each country has its own requirements when it comes to service animals and pets. If you’ll be traveling internationally with a service animal, research your specific study abroad country’s requirements. The process of obtaining vaccinations and health records for animals can be quite lengthy, so get this process started at least a few months before your study abroad program begins.
Know that a mandatory quarantine period may be required for your service animal depending on the country you’ll be traveling to.
You’ll also want to find out how service animals are treated in your study abroad country. For instance, will they be allowed to accompany you in stores and restaurants? If not, what alternative arrangements can you make ahead of time?

Bottom Line

You can get a lot out of study abroad programs, and you shouldn’t let any type of disability hold you back from this wonderful experience of meeting new people and experiencing a different culture.
If you’ll be traveling with a physical disability, you can make things a little easier on yourself by choosing a country that’s easier to get around. And definitely do your research to see how your study abroad country handles items like service animals, prescription drugs and traffic control.
Finally, use all of the financial tools at your disposal. Take the time to apply for scholarships and grants, and make sure you pack one of the best credit cards for students so you can avoid foreign transaction fees and earn rewards for your daily expenses.
With the right preparation, you’ll be able to get the most out of your study abroad program with minimal hassle.

No where in Africa will a foreigner walk into a city n just rent a house/room like we do in Ghana… Ghanaian Land lords wake up…you are the cause of all this.
Just Abidjan, you can’t roam without a proper Id…how many Nigerians even have ecowas stamps in their passport????
We should sit up Ghanaians and pls Nigerians if any Ghanaian is doing the above in your country…

Becos we Ghanaians will not entertain any form of BULLSHIT from any foreigner again.
You will go to Jail and the land lords harbouring criminals, we will let the police arrest you too.

Here's the sickening moment airline worker is kicked to the ground by drunken man after she refused to pose for a second selfie with him

Video: Here

This video shows the sickening moment that a man kicked an airline employee to the ground when she refused to pose for a second selfie with him and his friends during a drunken attack at an airport.

Le Thi Giang, who works for budget carrier Vietjet Air, had already been in one photograph with the trio at Tho Xuan Airport in the Thanh Hoa province of northern Vietnam.  But when they asked her to pose with them for another selfie in the departure lounge, she politely declined, explaining she was on duty.

The three men - Le Van Nhi, 41, Le Trung Dung, 34, and Pham Huu An, 28 - then launched a savage attack on Ms Giang, slapping and kicking her to the floor.

The footage shows one of the men kicking her on her hip as she faces the other way, sending her falling to the floor, while his friends look on. After her colleagues and security officials approach, a scuffle ensues, during which another man in the trio punches a male member of staff before stumbling to the ground.

The three men, who witnesses said were drunk, were eventually subdued by security guards and taken to a local police station where they were charged with public disorder.

All three have now been jailed at Thanh Hoa Province court. Nhi faces a three-year prison sentence; Dung, two years and 10 months; and An, one year and 10 months.

When Donald Trump Met Melania: The First Couple's Unusual Road to the White House

Donald Trump, Melania Trump, 2016

The third time has proved to be the charm for Donald Trump.

A pile-up of stories debating the happiness of their marriage aside, Trump won the presidency in 2016 and, almost 20 years after Melania Trump was first asked about the prospect of being first lady of the United States, they moved into the White House.

And there they remain, much to his supporters' delight and to his critics' persistent irritation.

"I love Washington. I love to live there. And I made the White House home—for our son and my husband—and we love to live in the White House," Melania told ABC News in October. "We are very honored to serve our great nation."

But with no public events scheduled for Friday, it's likely that they're planning on marking the president's 73rd birthday at their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, where the Trumps like to spend as many weekends and holidays as possible.

Earlier this month the first couple—and all of Trump's four grown children—visited England and enjoyed the literal royal treatment, dining with Queen Elizabeth II and her family, including future kings Prince Charles and Prince William and their wives. In between tweet storms, the obligations of governing and a news cycle that manages to feel more 25/8 than 24/7, it's evident that both Trumps relish the formal events where Melania gets a chance to shine and be the "traditional" first lady she once envisioned herself being, long before it became apparent there would be nothing traditional about the Trump presidency.

Except, perhaps, for his wife's stalwart support.

"I love what I do," Melania told a group of middle school children in North Carolina in April while on a visit to Fort Bragg with second lady Karen Pence. Asked if she was up for a second Trump term, she replied, "I think our husbands are doing [a] fantastic job, and I will support my husband if he decided to run again.

"And yes, it's a privilege, a great honor to serve, and I will be here."

But the public dynamic of the Trumps' relationship, including the sort of things they say about each other in the press, has hardly varied since they first got together in the late 1990s.

The most inscrutable first lady in decades rarely diverges from the script as far as championing her husband goes, though she has assured on several occasions that she doesn't shrink from letting him know when she disagrees with him.

"I don't always agree with what he tweets," Melania told ABC News' Tom Llamas during her visit to Africa last fall. "And I tell him that. I give him my honest opinion and honest advice. And sometimes he listens and sometimes he doesn't. But I have my own voice and my opinions and it's very important for me that I express what I feel."

In that respect, not much has changed, though many had hoped she would raise her voice much louder when it came to certain issues.

Except that now there's more talk of public service and less about sex and nudity.

A still-married but separated Donald Trump first met Melania Knauss in September 1998 at a party at Manhattan's famed Kit Kat Club thrown by Paolo Zampolli, the president of ID Models. It was the middle of New York Fashion Week and Melania, a 28-year-old model who had moved to the U.S. from Slovenia in 1996, was out with friends. Trump was on a date but, as he recalled later, he was immediately drawn to his future wife, if not immediately down for the count.

"I went crazy. I was actually supposed to meet somebody else," Trump recalled to Larry King on CNN in 2005. "There was this great supermodel sitting next to Melania. I was supposed to meet this supermodel. They said, 'Look, there's so and so.' I said, 'Forget about her. Who is the one on the left? And it was Melania."

"It was a great chemistry and energy," Melania concurred. "We had a great time. We started to talk. And, you know, something was there right away."

Taylor Swift's "You Need to Calm Down" Lyrics Decoded

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's new song, "You Need to Calm Down," is finally here!

After teasing the single during an Instagram Live yesterday, the 29-year-old singer released the tune on Friday. Along with sharing the lyric video for the instant hit on YouTube, Swift posted some cover art for the song on Instagram. The photo showed a picture of the 10-time Grammy winner rocking a giant back tattoo. The ink featured a bunch of butterflies flying up above a snake—a key symbol from her reputation era.

Swift spoke about her inspiration for the song during a recent interview with Apple Music's Beats 1.

"I've observed a lot of different people in our society who just put so much energy and effort into negativity, and it just made me feel like, 'You need to just calm down. Like, you're stressing yourself out. This seems like it's more about you than what you're going off about. Like, just calm down,'" she said.
