Nigeria's No.1 Entertainment Blog...Bringing latest to you the people

Last Friday in the evening around 8:00pm I had a call from a number, before I could say Hello, I was greeted with insults. Words that can squish the life and ego out of a man. "Stupid man, unless and jobless, aimless and frustrated, broke and can't even afford to take care of a girlfriend not to talk of getting married, let this be the last time you bring your foolishness to my house, how dare you insult my mother, the next time I catch you at my house, you will be very sorry for yourself, you are lucky I wasn't at home...."

At this point, I forcibly interrupted the caller, to alert her she was talking to the wrong person. Before I could, she shut me down and continued: "shut up, who says I don't know you, foolish boy, it is only Abigail who will give herself to you to be used, because she is so blind and cannot see how broke you are that you can't even afford to get married to her".

At that point in time, I ended the call, I had had enough. I was so surprised that a lady's mouth could be so deadly and sharper than the razor blade. Not just that, but also refusing to reason beyond her nose. After ending the call, I decided to conduct a background check on the number to have an idea of who she was and find a better way to draw her attention to the fact that, she just assaulted an innocent person.

But my entire search online and all the apps I came across failed me, I couldn't find any details with the number. I was disappointed with the result of the search but I had no choice. I had every right to be angry and upset but the truth is, that is not who I am, that is not my identity. The worst of it is, this lady is nowhere near me, if I get angry, it is the people around me who will suffer for what they have not done.

Revenge is like milk, it tastes better when served cold, I could take revenge on this lady for her action; wait for days to pass so I can call her one evening with a different phone line and give her a double dose of what she gave me, but it was not necessary.

One lesson I have learnt in life, is not to let anyone make me cruel. No matter how much I wanted to give her a taste of her own bitter medicine, it is never worth losing me.

We need to be careful how we react to people who hurt us, it is what comes from our mouth that tell the world who we are, if you can pause and think of what you want to say in times like that, you might end up not speaking at all.

The bible cautions "But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile the man" - Matthew 15:18 (MEV). Whatever wounds these words might inflict on me is not my fault but I owe myself the responsibility of healing so such an event won't change me for the worst.

I have no idea the pain this guy has caused the lady and her mother, which has resulted to her spitting on me that venom. I forgive her and never wish her pain for that is not who I am. I pray for healing for her and pray God will change her.

Just this afternoon, I had a call from a woman who identified herself as the mother of the lady who insulted me. She called to apologize on her behalf and claimed she gave the wrong number to the lady. She heard my number on the radio. In a hurry and anger, she gave the wrong number to her daughter who didn't cross check before firing.

I forgave her and said to myself, "there are lots of mad people in town". I don't know when you will meet one; when you do, don't be surprised but learn something from my story.

In conclusion "A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of" - Luke 6:45 (NIV).
