Top UK media organisation releases video used to blackmail Buhari in 2015

A video showing how top UK data firm, Cambridge Analytica, allegedly sought to influence the 2015 presidential election in Nigeria, has been released by UK Guardian. A Nigerian billionaire reportedly hired Cambridge Analytica to run a campaign in support of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s reelection bid.

The members of the British parliament had been informed by a whistleblower, one Christopher Wylie, about how the video was distributed in Nigeria with the intent of swaying voters’ decision.

He stated that the tech firm directed a Canadian digital services firm, AggregateIQ (AIQ), to use the video to target voters in 2015. AIQ was also deployed to work for Vote Leave during Britain’s EU referendum. Wylie said: “Cambridge Analytica sent AggregateIQ the video after they [CA] got banned from several online ad networks because the graphic nature of the content violated the terms of service. “AIQ was quite freaked out about it. It’s a very disturbing video. They told Cambridge Analytica that. They called it ‘the murder video’.”

In the video, a voice can be heard saying: “Dark, scary and very uncertain; Sharia for all. What would Nigeria look like if Sharia were imposed by Buhari? Buhari will punish all who speak against the regime…women will be veiled." The person says in conclusion: “You can stop this movie becoming real.”
